What’s interesting about this piece of news isn’t that a priest—Altberto Cutié--was photographed with his hand inside his lover’s bikini. That the father was a blessing to the child of God in such a way is hardly surprising. What’s surprising is that it took so long for photographers to figure out that there is money to be made in following renowned Catholic priests around.

If instead of chasing Britney Spears the paparazzi were to pursue the “celibate” servants of God, we may still have as many Catholics, but we would all be more familiar with the fatherly “tricks” of the holy ones.

Or, is it possible that the Roman Catholic Church is outing the good shepherd as a way of propaganda for the profession? After all, the number of aspirants is said to be dwindling. But articles like this one certainly have the potential to spark a vocation for “godly” matters in the young male population.

Maybe the Catholic church should come up with a slogan, “All the sex you want without the commitment of marriage.”

As for priest Cutié, he’s been suspended, but he is still a priest.
